  1. I love how the artists skin and hair colour are the only things that set her apart from her artwork. I like it better than the B&W version.

    • I’m happy for your comment, because I tried this image in several variations, from completely desaturated to full color, after I noticed the same thing you did—that her hair and skin were the only things that weren’t already B&W. This one is some desaturated—that made her sweater all the way black, instead of showing a little texture.

  2. Splendid, Paul! A strong difference between essence and appearance !

    • I’m intrigued, Mala. Will you say more about essence and appearance?

      Comment by paul davis — December 8, 2013 @ 9:59 am

      • Huh, I’ll try to do it.. .
So, this imagine is like a mirror effect, extrapolating the meaning of the word ‘mirror’. A kind of ying-yang of Self. What is appearance in one part, may be the essence of the other and vice versa. But, as a matter of fact, the essence of creation is one, and this essence is called Love.
I interpreted like I felt this picture, Paul.

        • Wow, those are hard concepts to talk about, in any language. I think I understand you. Is the self-portrait the essence of the artist? Or does the artist show herself as she wishes to appear?

          • That’s why I said… huh ! Don’t ask me more about concepts because now I have a special philosophical mood ! This space is too small for my ideas, trust me, and my English is also smaller than the space is …The result will be a disaster for readers.
